My father has passed and I found a silver bowl presented to him and my mother (Jo) from the Officers of the Mazama. Does anyone recollect anything about my father’s service?

Does anyone know about the Mazama’s history during 1961-63. I have found a silver bowl presented to my father and mother (Mike & Jo) from the Officers! I remember a story about a ship having a torpedo stuck into it’s side in the past.

My grandfather Marvin Ross served on the Mazama in WWII. My grandmother showed me his official discharge papers which stated he served on the ship. He passed away seven years ago.

My grandfather passed away seven years ago and my grandmother showed me his discharge papers showing he served on the Mazama in 1945.

My grandmother recently gave me some old military documents of my late grandfather, Marvin Ross. As I am active duty Air Force I was curious of the time my grandfather spent in the Navy. From those documents I discovered that he served on the USS Mazama in WWII and from there discovered this website. I am working with Jim Gaspard to get his name on your crew list. Thank you to all of those that served and if anyone remembers serving with my grandfather it would be a treat to talk to you.
