Division 1 as a S 1/c
Served on Mazama during WWII when the ship was attacked. Passed away in 1996 at the age of 82. Originally from Benton County, MO., His grandfather Isenhower was a Judge and built the court house in Lamar, MO. After the war he worked at TWA and Ford Motor Co in KC, MO.
J.R. Miller was on ship 1952-1955. Still resides in Dallas, TX today.

I live off Bryan Street in Dallas, we’re practically neighbors! Here are a few of the photos I have, there are more, but they are at the lake house. I could get them to you in the future. Do you have a crew member list from the Korea era? Poppa said he was one of the youngest on ship, so can’t imagine there are very many people still alive from his crew. He will be 80 this year, but still going strong! I told him about the reunion, he sounded really interested in going, but I think if there was someone else from his era that was interested in going as well, it would sweeten the deal.

My Dad, Jesse Glass was on the Mazama when it was torpedoed by a Japanese Kamikaze Submarine. He is now deceased
The dates for the 2014 AE/AOE Sailors Association annual reunion have been set for October 22 to 26th, 2014 at the Doubletree Airport Hotel in San Antonio. Registration begins on Wednesday the 22nd and events are planned for the rest of the week with the Grand Banquet Saturday night. San Antonio is the center of Texas history and its struggle for statehood. There are scheduled tours of the Alamo, the many early Mexican Missions surrounding the city, a RiverWalk barge trip with dinner on the River Thursday night. Friday is a trip to the LBJ Ranch & Visitors Center and Nimitz War Museum in beautiful Texas Hill Country Fredericksburg. Chief master of arms, engineering M and A division
My father died of a heart attack on February 18, 1976. He was a crew member during the Mazama’s deployment for the Cuban blockade. In the 1964 Med cruise book, he is mentioned in the narrative for the department and there are a few pictures of him as well. During that deployment, there was an explosion in the engine room. He was not injured but witnessed the explosion.
