My Dad served on the Mazama WWII and was one of eight injured and killed in the enemy attack. My Brother and I still have Dad’s “calendar girl trench art” on the 40 caliber shells from the ship and that apparently helped him pass the time. Dad (Thomas B. Driber, aka Tomo) was knocked from the Crow’s Nest during the enemy hit. My Dad passed on in April 2000. He retired as Acting Warden of the New Jersey State Prison formerly known as Trenton State Prison.
